The kids had literally been counting down the days 'til Grandma and Grandpa came for a visit. Grandpa had a conference to attend in Scottsdale AZ, so they planned a quick jaunt over to our neck of the woods on their way back, which technically is not 'on their way back' seeing as how there was a rental car involved and a day of connected flights that could've been shortened had they not tried to see us. For this purpose, we were hoping that our sweet, never rude, angry, or belligerent, little Ainsley would not treat them as dross and avoid eye their contact upon their arrival but run and jump up into their arms with a grin and a chuckle. Aubrey, Walker, and Maverick jumped into their arms excited and happy, while Ainsley chose to perch herself on either Chris' or my hip, so as to survey the situation with these two "outsiders." So much for that idea. But even though, Ainsley's reception was not what we were hoping, she and the rest of the kids soon warmed up to the visiting royalty that is grandparents.
Elaine brought an onslaught of gifts for the family birthdays, she brought: capes (that she made), crafts, gift cards and cookbooks. Does she know us or what?!
It was great talking with Brad and Elaine during the visit. Brad recalled stories of Chris when he was a "persistant" little boy, something that I've loved about him from the start, while Elaine and I caught up on the generalities of life and the funny things the kids have said. It was good fun and we always look forward to seeing them when they come to visit. And even though the visit was short, it was nice knowing that in a little over a month, we would be seeing them for the Reunion in mid-August.
And yes, at the end of the visit, Ainsley did finally warm up.

Haha. That picture with Ainsley with grandma is a classic. No hard feelings, I'm sure.
So I'm guessing that first pic is the first day? Hopefully it wasn't the last day, especially if you think that is Ainsley "warming up" to grandma. She is a cute little stinker! They all are!
Sadly, twas a picture of the last day! What can I say, she's a stinker!
