Summer Lovin' Continued

Also while in San Diego, we of course, walked the long 5 minutes to the ocean and played at the beach for a few hours. We literally had pulled Walker out of the water after a grand finale rinse off and his legs weren't even dry by the time we made it back to the townhouse.
The beach wasn't as crowded as we assumed it would be on the fourth of July and we listened to a few thirtysomethings grumble that they were offended that they were not allowed to drink while on the beach, apparently a new city code, so for those and many other reasons, it was a near perfect day at the beach. The kids could've stayed for a lot longer but I was pretty tired by this point of the trip.

We then travelled over to the world famous San Diego zoo. I'm not sure who was more excited, Chris or the kids. The last time we had visited this zoo, Aubrey was about 9 months old and she was excited to just watch the pigeons scrounge food off the ground from the lunchees. We figured all the kids would get a kick out of the animals now that they were a little older and could appreciate the varieties.
The conversation that prompted the picture below:
Roxanne: Chris, what's your favorite animal?
Chris: A rhinoceros...well, really it's a Triceratops, but they don't have any of those here.
Roxanne: Thank you, zoo keeper Chris, I'm also pretty sure they don't have any of those here.

The conversation that prompted the following pictures:
Chris: Roxanne, what's your favorite animal?
Roxanne: A jaguar
Chris: You're white trash.
Roxanne: Why do you say that?
Chris: Because jaguars are the animals seen in 80's rock videos and blankets at the county fair.
Roxanne: (Hesitantly...) I still like jaguars.

But the funniest part was when we read the desciption of my beloved Jaguar. After reading this sign board and the one next to it (wish I had a picture), Chris made an interesting observation. Apparently the jaguar is approximately 5'7" in height with thick, darker fur. It is a very quick animal but because of its short limbs is not considered as graceful as its counterparts in the big cat family. Chris began to laugh, saw the almost perfect description of himself if he were an animal and then realized why I loved this animal. It reminded me of him.
